How to measure your bra size at home
Updated: 04.11.2026
In short: measure your underbust and your bust. The underbust gives the band: 73–77 cm (about 29–30 in) is a 34 band (EU 75), and 78–82 cm (about 31–32 in) is a 36 (EU 80). The difference between bust and underbust gives the cup: 12 cm (≈5 in) = A, 14 = B, 16 = C, 18 = D, 20 = DD, 22 = DDD/F. For example, underbust 76 cm and bust 92 cm make a 16 cm difference, so you're a 34C (EU 75C).

- Wear an unpadded bra or none and stand straight.
- Underbust: wrap the tape snugly right under your bust, level all around, and breathe out.
- Bust: measure around the fullest part, with the tape level and not tight.
- Use the charts below.
Band size
| Underbust (in) | Underbust (cm) | US/UK band | EU band |
|---|---|---|---|
| 27–28 | 68–72 | 32 | 70 |
| 29–30 | 73–77 | 34 | 75 |
| 31–32 | 78–82 | 36 | 80 |
| 33–34 | 83–87 | 38 | 85 |
| 35–36 | 88–92 | 40 | 90 |
(This is the classic chart most stores use. Some modern brands size the band straight from the underbust, e.g. 30 in → 30 band, so always check the brand's own chart.)

Sister sizes
If the band is too tight but the cup fits, go one band up and one cup down; the cup volume stays the same. For example, 34C ↔ 36B ↔ 32D.
Signs your size is right
- The band sits level and doesn't ride up, with 1–2 fingers of room.
- There's no spillover or gaping at the cups.
- The underwire sits on your ribs, not on breast tissue.
- The straps don't dig in, because the band does most of the support.
Size done, now the style
Plunge, balconette, bralette and bodysuit look very different on different bodies, and lingerie is usually final sale. Try lingerie on your own photo to compare styles first. It's private, and only you see the result.
